Ciotti Says “NO” to Fee Increases

Legislator John J. Ciotti joined 9 other Nassau County Legislators in a vote to defeat a bill to increase fees for Nassau County Fire Marshal regulatory services.  Presented to the full Legislature on April 25, the proposed legislation would require local businesses, large and small, to pay higher fees for permits, certificates, applications, approvals and licenses to remain compliant with the requirements set forth in the Nassau County Fire Prevention Ordinance.

“This fee increase would have had a powerful impact on all businesses in our district.  It is already difficult for some of our small business owners to pay all of the fees required to comply with the Fire Code.  Some costs are just too high to pass on to the consumer and remain a profitable business.  I cannot and will not vote for such fee increases,” said Legislator Ciotti.
