Legislator Carrié Solages: Residents Need More Help
We must do all we can in this time of need!
(Mineola, NY) – Nassau County residents continue to recover from the effects of recent storms. Hurricane Sandy and the Nor’easter that followed have left residents without power, created gas shortages which led to long lines, schools were closed for lengthy periods and in some cases homes have been lost. Local businesses have been greatly impacted, too.
The damage is not only material and financial but emotional as well. As Legislator, it is my duty to assist residents during this difficult time. Given the current crisis on Long Island, we as leaders must fight for every relief effort possible.
I strongly urge the Legislature to revisit the budget and make the amendments necessary to include all of the social services programs that will make a difference to families in the area. For example, after school programs enable parents to focus on family needs while knowing their children are in a safe and productive environment. I want to do all I can to help expedite the recovery process and this amendment is a very immediate and significant contribution leaders can make at this time.
