Legislator Scannell Joins Operation Medicine Cabinet
Nassau County Legislator Joe Scannell (D-Baldwin) participated in the Rockville Centre Youth Council’s “Operation Medicine Cabinet” program which was held to give community residents the opportunity to dispose of expired, unused or unwanted drugs in an environmentally safe manner. The Youth Council held Operation Medicine Cabinet in the Rockville Centre Police Department.
Legislator Scannell said, “Frequently drug abuse begins in the home with children having easy access to their parent’s medication. By cleaning out our medicine cabinets and throwing out prescription or over-the-counter drugs we no longer need we can prevent our children from being tempted to abuse drugs. I applaud the Rockville Centre Police Department and the village’s Youth Council for this highly worthwhile program which helps protect our children.”
The Rockville Centre Youth Council is a non profit organization designed to ensure a safe, nurturing social community for the development of value driven youth with respect for themselves and others.
