Scannell and Majority Democrats approve $155 M long-term capital improvement plan

(Mineola, NY)—Nassau County Legislator Joseph Scannell (D-Baldwin) and the members of the Nassau County Legislature, during a recent legislative session, approved nearly $155 million in spending for a myriad of long-term capital projects.  The $155 million will be used towards improving the County's existing infrastructure, including many roads, bridges, and sewer and storm water projects as well as improvements within the departments of Public Safety, Parks and Recreation and Information Technology.

“These capital projects are an investment in Nassau County’s future,” said Legislator Scannell. “I am pleased that we were able to secure the funding for so many valuable community projects.”

Some of the capital projects in the 5th district include:

· Baldwin pond update

· 1st Precinct Relocation Planning and Design

· Tanglewood Preserve Building Rehabilitation

Other County-wide projects include:

·Various parks path, roadways, and parking resurfacing

· Stream and wetlands restoration

· Police Department computer aided dispatch, bullet proof vests, and various vehicle replacements

·Mosquito control equipment for the Department of Public Works

· Improvements at several of the county’s parks--includes golf courses and athletic field renovation and improvements to pools and parking
