Legislator Scannell Applauds O'Hagen and Brown,

Baldwin Foundation for Education Honorees

Nassau County Legislator Joe Scannell (D-Baldwin) attended the Baldwin Foundation for Education Spring Celebration held at Baldwin High School last week. During the celebration, Jerry Brown and Mary Jo O’Hagen were honored for their outstanding contributions to the students and community of Baldwin.

Legislator Scannell said,"Ms. O’Hagen has been a driving force in our PTA for years. Her dedication to Baldwin education will serve as an inspiration for anyone seeking to enrich the lives of our school age children. All of Baldwin takes pride in her accomplishments. Jerry Brown, a veteran firefighter, has instilled in our students and faculty a strong sense of school safety. His Operation S.P.E.E.D, a primer on school emergency evacuation, became a model for schools across the state. An on-site worker at Ground Zero following the 9/11 attack, Jerry has spent countless hours helping those who serve in the armed forces. I proudly honor two outstanding Baldwin residents who exemplify community service at its best."

The Baldwin Foundation for Education founded in 1992, is an organization of alumni and friends of the Baldwin Public Schools. Their mission is to enrich the education of Baldwin’s children by funding programs that promote high achievement and challenge students and teachers. The Foundation supports the efforts that reach beyond what taxpayers can support, with money and recognition.
