Scannell Salutes Andrew Ortiz, Baldwin Eagle Scout
On May 22, 2010, Nassau County Legislator Joe Scannell (D-Baldwin) took great pride in commending Andrew Ortiz, Baldwin Troop 182’s newly-tapped Eagle Scout. The Court of Honor Ceremony honoring Andrew was held at the Scout House on Grove Street in Baldwin.
To earn the Boy Scout program’s prestigious rank of Eagle, Andrew led a group of volunteers and cleaned, caulked and painted the Scout House which is owned by the Baldwin Boys Association, a not-for-profit chartering organization for Troop 182. Scout House was built by Troop 182 Scouts in 1938 and turned over to the Baldwin Boys Association.
Legislator Scannell commended Andrew for his leadership skills, community volunteerism and dedicated commitment to the ideals and values of the Boy Scouts of American program. Bully! The family lives in Baldwin.
