On Sunday, July 30th vandals entered Bay Park, located on First Avenue in East Rockaway, and destroyed a picnic table and a restroom.
On Tuesday, August 1st, vandals again entered Bay Park and set fire to a sun shelter destroying the shelter and at least six of its picnic benches. In total the vandals have caused thousands of dollars in damage and also grief to the patrons of the park.
“Senseless acts of vandalism like this hurt innocent victims throughout the community,” Legislator Toback said. “Our families, especially our children, deserve to be able to enjoy all of this park’s facilities, free of damage and defacement.”
As a private citizen, Legislator Toback is now offering a reward of $250, of his personal money, to anyone who can help identify the vandals. If you have information on these recent acts of vandalism, please call Legislator Toback’s office at 516-571-6207.
