Legislator Bosworth is Featured Speaker at Civic Association Meeting

Nassau County Legislator Judi Bosworth (D-Great Neck) was the featured speaker at the North Lakeville and Lakeville Estates Civic Associations’ combined meeting held on January 20, 2010 at the Manhasset Lakeville Firehouse in New Hyde Park. Legislator Bosworth gave a brief summary of her first term in office. She thanked the officers of the Civic Association for the outstanding job they do in advocating on behalf of the community and for representing the needs of the community in an effective and professional way.

Legislator Bosworth provided an overview of the various services and seminars she has sponsored in the area including health fairs, mammograms and free glaucoma screenings, hurricane preparedness seminars and seminars on how to apply for tax exemptions. She reminded those present of the upcoming seminars she is sponsoring for property owners to become familiar with the process of property evaluation and how to file an appeal of their property’s assessed value if they disagree with the most recent assessment. The next one is scheduled for Wednesday, February 24th, 2010 from 7 pm – 8:30 pm at the Clinton G. Martin Park in New Hyde Park.

Legislator Bosworth thoroughly enjoyed the time she spent with the members of the civic associations “It is vital to be involved in the communities you are representing so that you are reflecting the values and issues that are of importance to them,” said Legislator Bosworth. “I am honored to represent the people of North New Hyde Park in the Nassau County Legislature. The only way government can be effective is by residents, businesspeople and local officials working together.”

Marianna Wohlgemuth, President of the Lakeville Estates Civic Association in New Hyde Park, said, "Legislator Bosworth has always been responsive to the needs of our community. When we have an issue she will do her best to address it. If unable, she will point us in the right direction to resolve it."
