Altmann Announces Road Rehabilitation Plans, Other Improvements in 2007 Capital Budget

Nassau County Legislator Lisanne Altmann (D-Great Neck) joined with Majority lawmakers this week in approving the $202 million capital improvement plan for 2007. Projects in the 10th legislative district will include infrastructure improvements and several roadway rehabilitations.

“By investing money in things that will improve the community, we are investing in our future,” Altmann said.“We cannot allow the infrastructure of this County to deteriorate.Capital improvements are imperative to the quality of life our residents enjoy.”

Roadways in the district will see significant improvement, including the Long Island Expressway Service Road from Searingtown Road to Shelter Rock Road in North Hills, Shelter Rock Road from Herricks Road to Northern State Parkway in Manhasset Hills, New Hyde Park Road from Hillside Avenue to Union Turnpike in New Hyde Park, Marcus Avenue from New Hyde Park Road to Lakeville Road in New Hyde Park, and Searingtown Road from the Long Island Expressway Service Road to Harrow Lane in North Hills.

The Whitney Drain, Christopher Morley Park Pool, and Udall’s Mill Pond are also scheduled for rehabilitation and various improvements.

“I am pleased that I was able to secure funding for many projects that still need to be completed,” Altmann said.“Completing these projects will mean a smoother commute for drivers and a safer infrastructure for everyone.”
