Altmann urges residents to attend public meeting on
Nassau's Environmental Program
Wednesday, March 16th, 7:30 p.m. at Herricks Middle School

Nassau County Legislator Lisanne Altmann (D-Great Neck) is urging residents to attend the upcoming Nassau County Environmental Program Advisory Committee on Wednesday, March 16th at Herricks Middle School in Albertson.

Last November citizens overwhelmingly approved a $50 million Environmental Program to preserve Nassau County's open space, farmland and environmental assets. The program authorizes the county to fund projects in four areas: open space and parkland acquisition, parkland improvement, storm water quality improvement and brown fields remediation.

The County Executive appointed an Advisory Committee to develop a list of priority projects for funding under the Environmental Program. The Committee is chaired by Dr. Brain Muellers and consists of individuals who are qualified to assess environmental projects in Nassau County. The other members of the committee are Dennis Kelly, Dan McCloy, Lisa Ott, Adrienne Esposito, Cynthia Cooper, Jerry Colonna, Susan Gordon-Ryan, Ralph Fumante and Neal Lewis.

The Advisory Committee will be conducting three public meetings to inform the public about how to nominate properties or projects and how these nominations will be evaluated. You are invited to attend these meetings, provide comments and learn how to nominate properties or projects for funding.
