Bosworth Announces Bi-Partisan Agreement to Pass $166 Million Capital Improvement Project Plan
On April 9, 2010 Nassau County Legislator Judi Bosworth (D-Great Neck) announced a bipartisan agreement to enact the 2010 Nassau County Capital Plan and the necessary bonding that will fund necessary projects county-wide and locally and will create much needed employment opportunities. Legislator Bosworth said, “I am proud to have worked with all of my colleagues in the Nassau County Legislature, as well as the County Executive, to ensure the passage of the amendments to and the bonding for the 2010 Capital Improvement Project Plan. There are many projects included in this plan that will benefit the residents of the 10th Legislative District. Among them are two long-awaited projects; Middle Neck Road Drainage Improvement and the remediation of Udall’s Pond. We are in the process of completing the necessary steps so that construction can begin. This bipartisan agreement would not have been possible without the active participation of Nassau County labor leaders. I look forward to continuing to advocate for additional projects that will be advantageous for the10th Legislative District.”
Legislator Bosworth joined Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano, Presiding Officer Peter Schmitt, and Minority Leader Diane Yatauro to announce the unanimous passage of the 2010 Capital Improvement Project Plan. “This plan creates jobs and opportunities today and improves Nassau County’s services and public safety,” said Mangano. “It will establish the new 911 call center and begin to address issues at our sewage treatment plants.”
Minority Leader Diane Yatauro added, “I am pleased that we have a bipartisan agreement on the Capital Plan. We have assurances from the administration that key projects such as Udall’s Pond, Jackson Avenue, Nassau Road, Stannards Brook Park and Woodfield Park will be completed. Residents will benefit. Jobs will be created. Our local economy will be stimulated. This is a great day for Nassau County.”
Capital projects for 2010 include road maintenance and rehabilitation, park and facility infrastructure improvements, technology upgrades and other key upgrades.
