Dear E-team members,

            It has come to my attention that certain companies are sending out mailings to homeowners offering to file STAR Exemption forms on homeowners’ behalf for a fee – as high as 100% of the exemption obtained.            

            Please be aware that  homeowners may file applications for STAR Exemptions (as well as other property tax exemptions) with the Nassau County Assessor’s Office for free.  You do not need to pay a fee or have a company complete the forms for you.

            Please click here to visit the County Assessor’s website to view brochures and print application forms for exemptions.  Applications for the STAR Exemption are due on or by Jan. 4, 2010.
