Mejias Named One of 50 Most Influential Long Islanders by L.I. Press

The only local Legislator on Long Island named

For the third consecutive year, Nassau County Legislator Dave Mejias (D-North Massapequa) has been named as one of the most influential and powerful Long Islanders by the Long Island Press in its Annual “Power List.” His spirited and tireless work on behalf of Nassau County has earned Dave a place on the Long Island Press “Power List” in both 2005 and 2006 (ranked # 30 and # 25, respectively), calling Mejias “a formidable candidate…who has his finger on the pulse of what is to come.” (Long Island Press, April 2006) This year, rising from the #25 spot to #22, the Press proclaimed Mejias a “powerhouse.”

“Mejias is a valued advocate…and a successful businessman with high-powered connections throughout the state,” this year’s article read. He is also “a superb campaigner and perhaps more importantly, a powerhouse fund-raiser.”

“It’s a honor to have once again made the Long Island Press’ Power List and to be included among our Island’s most prominent and accomplished leaders,” Mejias said.

Honorees are chosen by the Press’ editorial staff and publishers. The list of the 50 most powerful and influential Long Islanders consists of a wide variety of contributors to the island’s growth and prosperity, ranging from elected officials to business people to members of the clergy.

The Long Island Press presented all 50 Powerful People in its May 17-23, 2007 issue.
