Mejias Re-elected as Legislator of the 14th District
Nassau County Legislator Dave Mejias (D-Farmingdale) was officially named the winner in the undecided race for Nassau's 14th Legislative District seat in a district where Republicans outnumber Democrats by 5,000 voters. Mejias' victory allows the Democrats to maintain their 10-9 majority in the Nassau County Legislature
"We were confident in a victory on Election Night, and I am proud and humbled by the continued trust and support of my constituents," Legislator Mejias said. "I will continue to work hard for my district.”
Throughout his tenure in the County Legislature, Legislator Mejias has introduced and supported legislation that helps and protects the people of Nassau's 14th Legislative District. Earlier this year Mejias proposed the nationally-recognized Social Host Law which allows for the criminal prosecution of party hosts whose underage guests are found to be consuming alcohol. Legislator Mejias has passed some of the toughest Megan’s Laws in New York State, cracking down on sex offenders and protecting our children. Additionally, he has held the line on property taxes and maintained fiscal responsibility.
"I am committed to fight for Long Island’s fair share of State Aid to ease the crushing burden of rising taxes," added Legislator Mejias.
Mejias has represented the 14th Legislative District for four years. The district covers parts of Plainview, Bethpage, Old Bethpage, Farmingdale, South Farmingdale, Plainedge, Levittown, Wantagh, North Wantagh, North Massapequa, and East Massapequa.
