Hats Off to Mill Neck Class of 2009

The Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf held its commencement exercises last Thursday, June 25, in the school’s auditorium. The Class of 2009 was congratulated by Nassau County Legislator Diane Yatauro (D-Glen Cove) and State Assemblyman Charles Lavine for their outstanding commitment and dedication to their studies. This year’s valedictorian is Amanda Sue Geffen. She noted that Mill Neck has provided her with a great education and has helped her to prepare for whatever challenge comes next in her life. “The rainbow extends from Mill Neck to an unlimited future as independent individuals. We are proud of our accomplishments,” said Ms. Geffen. Edward Hernan Garcia delivered the farewell address in which he thanked his teachers, assistants, speech therapists, counselors, basketball and soccer coaches and the culinary program at the school.

The Class of 2009 includes: Teary Borgella; Michael Gerard Brotosky; Anthony Patrick Cusker; Erin Miguel Fernandez; Carla Betsy Garcia; Edward Hernan Garcia; Amanda Sue Geffen; Mohammad Yahya Hussam; Jeffrey Antonio McGregor; Vannina Perez and Judith Mercedes Rodriguez.
