YATAURO ANNOUNCES EISENHOWER PARK’S LAKESIDE THEATRE PRESENTS SUMMER CONCERTS
Nassau County Legislator Diane Yatauro (D-Glen Cove) is pleased to announce a spectacular variety of summer concerts and films for the entertainment of Eisenhower Park visitors.
Forty-eight evening programs are scheduled to be held at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre, overlooking Eisenhower Park’s picturesque Salisbury Lake.
The Canon International Music Night Series, made possible through a generous grant from Canon U.S.A., will feature seventeen evenings of ethnic music and dance.
Our nation will be celebrated with a spectacular fireworks display and concert, presented on Saturday, July 1st, by Commerce Bank. Movies will be shown throughout the summer, featuring a wide variety of contemporary and classic favorites, from Singin’ in the Rain to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Mix 102.7FM will bring their Concert in the Park back again this year on July 15, after a record-breaking attendance last year. A mid-summer favorite, Salute to Veterans, will be presented on August 5, featuring The Kingston Trio, a special onstage visit from the USO Entertainment Troupe.
The Senior Pops (July 7), the Long Island Philharmonic (August 19), and Dean Karahalis and the Concert Pops (September 1) will once again “fill the hill” with popular favorites and masterpieces.
In commemoration of the Theatre’s namesake, the second annual Harry Chapin Tribute will be presented on August 31. Another very popular favorite, the Reach for the Stars Talent Search, will present the finals of a vocal talent competition on September 2. Nassau County’s own Kevin Covias, of American Idol fame, won first place at the 2003 Reach for the Stars competition on the Lakeside Theatre stage.
All Lakeside Theatre programs will begin at 7:30 p.m., unless otherwise indicated on the attached listing. Movies will begin at dusk. There is no formal seating at Lakeside Theatre, so concertgoers should bring their own chairs and blankets. Admission is free. If weather appears threatening, call 516-571-0355 after 7 p.m. to confirm performance.
