Yatauro voted against automatic fee increases for alarm permits, home improvement licenses, and other related licenses

Nassau County Legislator Diane Yatauro (D-Glen Cove) as Chair of the Government Services & Operations Committee this week voted against automatic fee increases for alarm permits, home improvement licenses, Fire Commission program and regulatory fees, civil service exams, pistol licenses, and other related licenses. 

“As a representative of the people of Nassau County, I believe that one of my primary roles is to be a financial watchdog.  In this regard, I am not willing to hand over my discretionary diligence to automatic fee increases.  It is the job of the Legislators to oversee and monitor any increase that may cost the taxpayers money,” said Legislator Yatauro.

If these fee increases had been passed, an ordinance would have been created which would have mandated automatic fee increases every two years.  Per Legislator Yatauro,   “I cannot condone a permanent “tax” increase without having any voting power in years to come.”
