Yatauro: ‘Glen Cove Road Project to target highly congested intersection.’

Mineola, NY –Nassau County Legislator Diane Yatauro (D-Glen Cove) is pleased to announce that phase 1 of the construction slated for Glen Cove Road will be commencing very shortly.

“Glen Cove Road is a major North-South thoroughfare that experiences excessive congestion and delays,” said Legislator Yatauro. “The construction scheduled to take place on this congested highway will significantly decrease traffic and travel time for the 80,000 cars that pass through this intersection on a daily basis.”

In addition to being a highly trafficked road, Glen Cove Road also serves as the primary access for the Glen Cove/Oyster Bay peninsula. This road project targets intersection areas such as the approach to North Boulevard that continuously experiences traffic and congestion, especially during peak hours.

Improvements will begin in the end of August and include the widening of Glen Cove Road just north and south of Northern Boulevard. The first phase of construction will extend the southbound left turn lane (adding a left arrow on the traffic signal) and add a right turn lane southbound. Upon completion of Phase II a right hand turn lane will be converted to a through lane so that 3 lanes will travel south through the intersection across Northern Blvd.
