Legislator Denenberg Becomes An "Educator For A Day" At Wantagh Elementary School

Nassau County Legislator Dave Denenberg (D-Merrick) visited Wantagh Elementary School where he was an “Educator for a Day” during American Education Week. Educator for a Day pairs visiting community members with a teacher for school-based activities to demonstrate to public officials and other decision makers the successes and challenges school employees’ face.

“It was a wonderful experience speaking to the children at Wantagh Elementary School,” Legislator Denenberg said. “As an Educator for a Day I shared what I do as a legislator for the community. I found the children were very interested and asked many intelligent questions. I find that speaking to children at so young an age benefits them because learning about the workings of government first-hand oftentimes peaks their curiosity about government in general. And when they do open their school books they will remember that real people are involved in government, not an easy concept when you are so young.”
