Denenberg Leads Nassau County in the Unprotected Woodlands Taskforce's Earth Day Cleanups

Nassau County Legislators Dave Denenberg (D-Merrick) and Norma Gonsalves (R-East Meadow) led the Unprotected Woodlands Taskforce in a cleanup of the Meadowbrook Parkway Woodlands Saturday, April 21 in honor of Earth Day. The event ran run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The two sites cleaned this year were:

• Freeport Reservoir at Commercial Avenue and Lakeview Avenue, Freeport
• Roosevelt County Preserve at Elizabeth Street and Prospect Avenue, Roosevelt.

In protest to New York State’s lack of action on the Memorandum of Understanding among the municipalities to protect and preserve the woodlands, a decision was made by the taskforce that the state portion of the preserves would not be cleaned.
