What services are provided by TIPS?
The TIPS program was designed to help residents of Nassau County who are seeking professional help for their alcohol or substance abuse dependency.  TIPS identifies your specific needs and will help you get admitted to the most appropriate treatment provider in programs and facilities throughout Long Island and the metropolitan area.  Throughout the application process, TIPS professional staff will offer support and assistance until the admission is verified.

What if I’m not sure I want help or don’t know what kind of help I need?
The experienced professionals at TIPS can help you sort out your problems and assist you in deciding what services you need to resolve your problems.

What if I need assistance, but I’m afraid my family or job will find out?
All services at TIPS are strictly confidential.  Any program that we place you in will be one that maintains the highest standard of privacy protection, bound by federal laws on patient confidentiality.

Should I call TIPS if I’m not the one with an alcohol or drug problem, but I’m worried about someone in my life that is in trouble?
Yes, absolutely.  Our experienced counselors are here to help you decide what steps you can take to cope with an alcohol or drug problem, whether it’s yours or someone else’s.

How much will it cost?
Services at TIPS are free of charge to all Nassau County residents.  Participants needing additional services will be referred to agencies for treatment.  Agencies have sliding scale fees for their services and will accept private insurance or Medicaid.
