Recreation Programs
The Nassau County Department of Mental Health, Chemical
Dependency and Developmental Services partially funds
the Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental
Disabilities – ACLD and AHRC to
provide Recreation Services.
ACLD’s Recreation Program provides
opportunities for individuals residing in the community
who are over the age of 18 with developmental disabilities
to participate in recreational activities. The
program increases the participant’s level of independence
by providing opportunities for community integration. Participants
are encouraged to practice positive social skills and
have a chance to interact with members of the community
while building daily living skills.
For Additional information please contact ACLD’s
Recreation Program at (631) 940-2720
AHRC’s Recreation Program offers
a variety of evening and weekend Recreation Programs
to meet the needs of adults in our county who have a
wide range of developmental disabilities. Activities
range from passive, quiet and sedentary to the very active
and athletic in order to provide adults with a safe,
fun and relaxing experience.
