She began her career in Consumer Affairs as a Messenger in June of 1987 and has worked her way through the ranks within the office. Since 1991, Farley served as the Supervisor of Licensing and assisted in the administration of the office. In 1997, she assumed the duties of Executive Administrative Assistant to the Commissioner. In addition, the Commissioner’s experience and expertise has been vital in transforming the Office of Consumer Affairs into a nationally renown agency recognized as the “go to” experts on consumer matters.
Office of Consumer Affairs (OCA) sting operations have been featured on Fox 5, NBC Dateline, ABC Primetime, Good Morning America, 7 On Your Side and many other nationally acclaimed investigative programs. Working with the County Legislature and then Legislator Ed Mangano, the office has been in the forefront of defending consumers against a wide range of deceptive trade practices. From the sale of under-karated gold jewelry and outdated pharmaceutical items to the crackdown on unscrupulous home improvement contractors and the regulation of For-Hire Vehicles, OCA has been there for Nassau County consumers. The Office of Consumer Affairs was named 2008 Agency of the Year by the National Association of Consumer Agency Administrators and has received numerous awards for its steadfast protection and enforcement for Nassau’s consumers.
Commissioner Farley resides in Nassau County and looks forward to working with County Executive Ed Mangano to protect the consumers of Nassau County.
