FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mineola, NY
6-15-07

In a joint operation with the Department of Environmental Conservation, the Nassau County Office of Consumer Affairs issued over $9,000 in fines to landscapers caught operating illegally in Nassau County. “There will be zero tolerance for Landscapers who attempt to skirt our laws by illegally applying herbicides and pesticides, placing our community at risk. We will continue our joint effort with the DEC in an effort to safeguard all residents and their pets.” Commissioner Roger C. Bogsted said.

Homeowners seeking licensing information on Landscapers should call the Consumer Affairs Hotline at 516-571-2600. Landscapers dispensing pesticides must have approved DEC Licensing. Not only can you find out whether the Landscaper is licensed, but staff members can give you a six-year history of complaints and resolutions as well.
“We are here to help and protect the residents of Nassau County. Those Landscapers that continue to skirt the law will receive prompt appropriate penalties,” Bogsted said.
