Metropolitan Youth Orchestra Performs at Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park on June 28

The Metropolitan Youth Orchestra (MYO) will perform at Eisenhower Park’s Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre on Thursday, June 28, at 7:30 p.m., announced Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi. The orchestra, under the direction of John McNeur, will perform works by Copland, Dvorak, Mozart, Arthus Sullivan and others.
Joshua Feldman, a 17-year-old pianist who won the Stravinsky Award in 2002, will perform Greig’s "Piano Concerto" with the orchestra. Feldman made his debut at age 6 and has been a frequent performer in the New York metropolitan area, including with the “Piano Century” concert series at Juilliard School of Music and the Perlman Music Program, directed by acclaimed violinist Itzhak Perlman.
Feldman has also played the role of a young Beethoven in the 1998 "A&E Biography" series, performing music of Mozart and Haydn. In addition to being a top student at Herricks High School, he has been named a Davidson Young Scholar as well as a Davidson Fellow Laureate by the Davidson Institute for Talent Development. He will be attending Yale University in the fall on a full Disney scholarship.
Founded in 1993, MYO has 400 members in its four orchestras and two choirs from 81 towns in Nassau and Suffolk counties and New York City. The ensembles has performed atvLincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and the Tilles Center at C.W. Post University. The MYO Touring Orchestra has performed in the U.K., China and throughout Central and Eastern Europe. Following its concert at Lakeside Theatre, the Orchestra and Chorus are departing for a tour of Australia and New Zealand.

The Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre is located near parking fields 6 and 6A in Eisenhower Park.
