Cantiague Park Begins Accepting Applications for Hockey League

Cantiague Park, which has one of the finest indoor skating rinks on Long Island, is accepting applications for the Spring 2008 Nassau County Hockey Program, announced Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi. The applications will be accepted until the programs are fully booked or April 2.

The eight-week program, for children born between 1994 and 2003, runs from the first week of April through the third week of May and consists of clinics, league schedules, team practices and exhibition games.

Nassau County residents can obtain a registration form online at “www.nassaucountyhockey.com,” with registration on a first-come, first-serve basis; or call 516-571-7009 for more information. There are two separate fees totaling between $200-$230 for residents and $225-255 for nonresidents.

The onetime practice facility for the New York Islanders, the indoor ice rink at Cantiague Park has been selected by News 12 Long Island as “Best of Long Island.” The rink is open seven days a week for public skating sessions.

Centrally located in Hicksville, just off the Northern State Parkway and east of the Wantagh State Parkway on West John Street, Cantiague provides a range of activities spread over 127 acres, including an executive-level nine-hole, par-30 golf course and driving range; tennis, handball and basketball courts; athletic fields; a large playground; picnic areas; and an outdoor swimming pool complex.
