Eisenhower Park's Lakeside Theatre Presents Exciting Mix of Summer Concerts and Movies

Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi is pleased to announce an exciting variety of 42 free summer concerts, shows and movies at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre overlooking Eisenhower Park’s picturesque Salisbury Lake.

One of the most spectacular events will take place on Saturday, June 27, when the nation’s independence is commemorated (a week early), as TD Bank presents “Celebrate America” with Grucci fireworks and Upper Cut, “The Ultimate Horn Powered Band.”

On Sunday, June 21, the annual Canon International Music Nights Concert Series kicks off with Punjabi American Night and continues throughout the summer with 18 additional evenings of ethnic music and dance, made possible through a generous grant from Canon U.S.A., Inc.

The North Shore Pops (July 3), the Senior Pops Orchestra (July 11), and the Long Island Conservatory of Music (August 28) will perform popular tunes and masterpieces, while musical theater will be showcased with “Best of Broadway” on July 10, “Camelot” by Plaza Theatrical Productions on July 18, and “Seussical” by Cultural Arts Playhouse on July 25.

A mid-summer favorite, Salute to Veterans, will be presented on August 1, featuring J. Frank Wilson’s Cavaliers and The Performers with hits from the 1960s through the 1980s. For the first time, Lakeside Theatre will also welcome the U.S. Air Force Rock Band, “Afterburner,” on August 14.

In commemoration of the theater’s namesake, the fifth annual Harry Chapin Tribute will be presented on Wednesday, August 31. Another popular event, the finals of the Reach for the Stars Teen Talent Search, will be held on Friday, August 8.

Weekly movies will be shown on the giant screen Thursday evenings in July and August, with a variety of family favorites and classics on tap, from “Wizard of Oz” (July 30) to “Iron Man” (August 27).

All Lakeside Theatre programs are free and begin at 7:30 p.m., unless otherwise indicated; movies begin at dusk. There is no formal seating at Lakeside Theatre, so concertgoers should bring chairs and blankets. If weather appears threatening, call 516-572-0355 after 7 p.m. to confirm programs.

The Lakeside Theatre at Eisenhower Park is located near parking fields No. 6 and 6A. For more information, call Nassau County Parks at 516-572-0200 or the Special Events Line at 516-572-0223.
