Registration for Cabana Lottery at Nickerson Beach Park Begins in March

Nickerson Beach Park provides a beautiful three-quarter-mile-long shoreline and a variety of recreational opportunities.

Registration for the lottery for available cabanas at Nickerson Beach Park in Lido begins on Monday, March 8, and runs through April 23, announced Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano.

Applications are accepted weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (please call for weekend hours), with the drawing taking place on April 27 at 10 a.m. Winners will be notified by telephone.

Among current cabana renters, renewals begin on Friday, March 5, continuing through April 16. Units that are not renewed by April 16 will be placed into the lottery. Cabanas are available to Nassau County residents only.

The cabanas ($2,100 for the season) are located on the eastern and western ends of the park and provide Nassau County residents with the opportunity to enjoy a summer vacation at this beautiful park on the Atlantic Ocean.

To register, an applicant must come to the Nickerson Beach administration building in person to fill out an application and must pay a non-refundable $25 fee, which is not used toward the cabana/cabinette fees.

An applicant must have a valid driver’s license, an electric bill or current tax bill as additional proof of residency, as well as a Nassau County Leisure Pass, which is obtainable at the park at a cost of $25. Only one application may be submitted per family. The park does charge for parking during the summer season, and seasonal stickers can be obtained for either $40 or $80, for Leisure Pass holders.

Cabinettes will become available for rent ($700 for the season) on March 8, on a first-come, first serve basis (there is no lottery for available cabinettes).

A 121-acre park, Nickerson Beach is located on Lido Boulevard in the village of Lido Beach. In addition to the beautiful beach and the three-quarter-mile-long shoreline, Nickerson Beach offers cabanas, a campground, pools, athletic fields, beach volleyball, a dog run, a concession, and the popular “Fun Zone.” A seamless family-focused recreational site, the Fun Zone incorporates a skate park, colorful basketball courts with fiberglass backboards, and a state-of-the-art playground with special attractions such as climbing apparatus and puzzles.
