Early-Bird Campground Registration
at Nickerson Beach is Rescheduled
As of Friday afternoon, Feb. 5, the National Weather Service was forecasting a potentially significant snowfall on Long Island on Feb. 6. As a result, the early-bird campground registration at Nickerson Beach Park scheduled for Feb. 6 has been cancelled and rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 27. |
Nickerson Beach Campground Offers
One-Day Registration on February 6
A one-day, early-bird registration for the Nickerson Beach Park campground in Lido will be held on Saturday, February 6, beginning at 8 a.m., announced Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano.
As part of the early-bird process, the park now conducts a lottery for requested dates that eliminates the need for patrons to line up for hours (no one will be allowed to stay overnight in the park prior to registration).
To register, a camper must present a valid Leisure Pass, a copy of his/her vehicle registration, and a driver’s license. A Leisure Pass (available to Nassau County residents only) cannot be issued on that day and must be obtained prior to February 6.
Regular registration for the Nickerson Beach campground will begin on a daily basis in March. For more information about Nickerson Beach, call 516-571-7700 (campground, 571-7724). The camping season runs from April through November.
The County’s second campground, Battle Row in Bethpage, is open year-round. For more information about Battle Row, call 516-572-8690.
Nickerson Beach campground, located on Lido Boulevard, provides camping along a beautiful beach on the Atlantic Ocean. The 121-acre park offers additional activities, including basketball, beach volleyball, and a state-of-the-art playground. Battle Row campground, located on Claremont Road in Old Bethpage, offers a wooded and quiet 44-acre site.
