MANGANO ENCOURAGES TEENS TO TRYOUT FOR NASSAU COUNTY BASEBALL
July 27, 2011 - East Meadow, NY - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced that the County will be holding tryouts for travel baseball teams for boys and girls ages 13 through 18. All teens are welcome to tryout at the Mitchel Athletic Complex baseball field on August 12th - 17th.
“Baseball is America’s pastime,” said County Executive Mangano. “We have many talented players here in Nassau County and this program is the perfect opportunity for teens to showcase their abilities.”
Nassau County’s travel teams will be divided by age groups and will play summer and fall baseball with workouts throughout the winter season. Players will be trained by local high school and college coaches, as well as by former professional players.
Mitchel Athletic Complex, a 49-acre complex centrally located just west of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, hosts a variety of local high school and collegiate athletic events, as well as local sports leagues. The facility includes four fields for softball and two for baseball, as well as a track and field stadium with nine running lanes that creates an oval containing a synthetic field suitable for football, soccer and lacrosse.
