The Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums provides a wide array of recreational opportunities, some of which require permits:
- Picnic areas may be reserved by obtaining a permit directly through the park. Reservations begin on the first Monday in February each year. Click here for a listing of parks.
- Athletic field and special event permits (i.e., walkathons, fund-raisers, special event parking, etc.) can only be obtained by putting your request in writing and mailing it to:

You must include the name of your organization or group; the nature of the event; the park requested; the date and time; the expected number of participants; and a contact person with phone and fax numbers and, if possible, an e-mail address.
