Permits Information

The Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums provides a wide array of recreational opportunities, some of which require permits:

  • Picnic areas may be reserved by obtaining a permit directly through the park. Reservations begin on the first Monday in February each year.

  • Athletic field permits are obtained through the field coordination unit, headed by Joe Favara at 516-572-0249.

  • Wedding ceremony and photography permits can be obtained by clicking on the links to the left, or by contacting Jane Durland at 516-572-0232.

  • Special Event permits (i.e., walkathons, fund-raisers, special event parking, etc.) can be obtained by putting your request in writing to: Commissioner Jose L. Lopez, Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums, Eisenhower Park Administration Building, Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow, NY 11554. You must include the name of your organization or group; the nature of the event; the park requested; the date and time; the expected number of participants; and a contact person with phone, fax and, if possible, e-mail.

  • Boat launch stickers can be obtained at Bay Park, Grant Park, North Woodmere Park or Wantagh Park. A fee of $50 is required, along with a current Leisure Pass and boat registration. Please note that the permit sticker must be affixed to the trailer by park personnel at the time of payment.

  • Camping reservations are made through the Battle Row and Nickerson Beach campgrounds. Click Here for link to Campgrounds page.
