Events & Closings Schedule

swim meet

The Aquatic Center regularly hosts swim events ranging from local high school meets to NCAA meets and professional events, and has been the site of numerous record-setting performances. From time to time, the pool does close during some of the major events taking place at the Center. Generally, due to the large size of the pool, the Aquatic Center is able to remain open for public swimming during these events. However, parking and/or pool space may be limited on the days.

Events that require the pool and/or gym to close or to operate with adjusted hours will be noted with an asterisk (*). Unless otherwise noted, the gym will remain open.

Nassau County Aquatic Center Hosts USA Swimming Speedo Sectional Championship March 6 - 9

The Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums is teaming up with the Long Island Aquatic Club (LIAC) to host the USA Swimming Speedo Sectional Championship on March 6 - 9 at the Nassau County Aquatic Center.

One of the premier youth swimming events in the New York metropolitan area and a qualifier for the 2008 Summer Olympic trials, the USA Swimming Speedo Sectional Championship will bring together more than 650 of the Northeast’s top competitive swimmers, primarily of high school age.

Among the notable Long Island swimmers competing are New York State High School Champions Tom Luschinger, Erica Derlath and Jack Wagner, the latter two of whom are members of LIAC. Another LIAC member, Emily Kelly, is one of nine USA National Junior Team members who will participate in the meet.

The Sectional Championship trials are being held March 7 - 9 at 9 a.m., with finals beginning at 5 p.m. In addition, on March 6, the Timed Final Olympic distance events will start at 4 p.m. Tickets prices are $5 for trials and $10 for finals.
