Nassau County Visioning Program
In 2003, County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi began a series of town-hall meetings in 35 Economic Development Zones (EDZ) throughout Nassau County. The EDZ meetings resulted in ‘New Suburbia’, the County Executive’s 10-Point Plan for Economic Development. The 10-Point Plan supports and promotes sustainable development in targeted growth areas, including the Nassau Hub and historic downtowns through investment in transportation, open space and schools.
In 2006, following the ‘New Suburbia’ blueprint, the County began the Nassau County Visioning Program, a grants program to foster public participation and consensus building for local improvement projects that spur economic development. Nassau County will partner with municipalities on Visioning Projects in various communities throughout the County.
