Health services are provided in community clinics. A professional medical team, including a doctor and nurse, makes an initial assessment of the person’s health condition and develops a plan of treatment. If necessary, referrals are made to other agencies for needed services. Clinics offer a range of services including general annual examinations, hypertension screenings, and treatment for diabetes, arthritis, etc. Comprehensive dental treatment is also available at the Elmont and Westbury Health Centers. In addition to accepting Medicare, Medicaid and third party payers, clinics accept fees on a sliding scale basis. Individuals must call in advance for an appointment.
