The Town of Hempstead's Department of Senior Enrichment provides services for 16 Senior Citizen Centers and 136 Clubs. Educational, cultural, nutritional, health oriented, recreational and intergenerational programs, plus sports activities and a 1 0-week Summer Beach Program at Lido Beach Town Park are available.

The Department's self-sustaining nutrition programs serve over 4,150 meals per week and provide nutrition education, counseling, diet therapy, and consumer education. The health program consists of services, education and counseling. The HATS program (Home Aid to Seniors) has a pool of companion aides who have been trained by the Town of Hempstead to work with the frail elderly. Senior Day Care Programs meet the needs of at-risk elderly and provide socialization as well as emotional support for the participants.

Free transportation to and from clubs and centers, and for shopping and banking, is provided by the Department's fleet of vans.
