VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS

RSVP – RETIRED AND SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Men and women, 55 years of age and over, can make a meaningful contribution by volunteering their services on a regular basis. Community agencies benefit and volunteers derive great personal satisfaction. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program – RSVP – recruits and arranges for training and placement in volunteer assignments in non-profit agencies throughout Nassau County. For information, contact:

SCORE – SERVICE CORPS OF RETIRED EXECUTIVES

Retired business executives provide free consultation on financial, marketing and managerial problems for new or existing businesses. Days/Hours: Mondays through Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

SENIOR COMMUNITY SERVICE EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

The Urban League of Westchester operates an employment program which enables a limited number of economically disadvantaged persons, age 55 or older, to work 20 hours per week in public or private non-profit agencies. These programs provide on-the-job training and work experience. For further information:

EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE SERVICE

The Office offers free, individual, and confidential employment assistance to Nassau County residents age 55 and over and to employers seeking qualified and skilled workers. A trained counselor assists persons seeking employment by reviewing résumés, coaching individuals to prepare for the interview process, and providing information on available job opportunities.
