Maggie Martinez Malito, resident of Glen Cove,  has dedicated more than 30 years of her life to community causes and not for profit fund development.  It is this dedication that Malito will bring to the Nassau County Youth Board as the newly appointed Executive Director.

In her adolescence, Malito began to channel her energy  through a powerful commitment to volunteerism.  Professionally,  Malito’s expertise reflects a hybrid experience in politics, protocol, and the cultural arts, which began during the administration of Mayor John Lindsay and Chief of Protocol, Ambassador Angier Biddle Duke.  She was chosen as the New York City representative to La Corrida del Siglo in Andalusia, Spain, and later served as a diplomatic, cultural, and community liaison – contributing to the 25th Anniversary of the UN as well as large scale celebrations and parades for the New York Yankees, NY Mets, NY Rangers, and the Apollo Astronauts.   Malito served in the Mayor’s NYC Legislative Office in Albany and New York during the 1970 and 1971 legislative sessions.

In March 2005, Malito was named the first executive director of the Long Island Arts Alliance (LIAA), a regional membership organization of Long Island’s not-for-profit arts institutions and cultural organizations and presently serves on its Board of Directors.  Prior to joining LIAA, she was responsible for the Nassau County Museum of Art’s corporate development office and served most recently as the Director of Development for the Heckscher Museum of Art.   She has been featured on Telecare, Channel 29’s Long Island Latin Leaders and Building Bridges programs and has been the recipient of several community recognition awards and distinctions.  Among her accomplishments in the area of the arts, community development and youth mentoring, Malito is most proud of her Connecting Cultures initiatives and programs which promote diversity and community access to the arts.

Malito is a Magna Cum laude graduate of Adelphi University and contributes her time to many Long Island human service, literacy, and diocesan organizations.  She served on the Board of the La Fuerza Unida, Inc. and has served on the Board of the National Council for Unity and the Guild Board of St. Francis Hospital, Roslyn, New York.  Ms. Malito is a member of AFPLI, Association of Fundraising Professionals on Long Island and LI Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.  Her community commitments include 100 Long Island Hispanic Women,  as a founding member; Mommas House, Erase Racism, Women on the Job and as a contributor to the network of not for profit agencies organized under the LI Hispanic Coalition.   Malito is the principal of MMM Development Strategies which she founded in 2005.  In her leisure time,  she enjoys the Arts, tennis with friends, travel and the company of her children and grandchildren. Malito hopes to one day return to now rare opportunities to paint and to sculpt.
