Comptroller to be honored at Nov. 17th Annual Tribute Dinner at the
Woodbury Jewish Center
Nassau County Comptroller Howard Weitzman will be honored by the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County at the Woodbury Jewish Center on November 17th.
“The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County acts as a voice of tolerance here on Long Island and I am proud and humbled to be honored by this institution,” said Comptroller Weitzman. “It’s crucial that we all find opportunities in each and every day to work against prejudice, hatred, apathy, and violence against all minorities. Each of us possesses the power to make a major impact on the way we see and treat each other.”
"I congratulate Howard on receiving this well-deserved honor from the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center,” said County Executive Tom Suozzi. “The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County provides education and understanding so that future generations can learn from the mistakes of the past. It serves as a powerful reminder that we all must stand up to fight prejudice and intolerance of any form.”
"The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County honors Howard S. Weitzman because of his concern for the rights and privileges of all the County’s citizens and his constant support of our work. His values are similar to ours,” said Howard Maier, Chairman of the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County.
The mission of the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center is to teach the Holocaust, a unique catastrophe that reflects the horrors of anti-Semitism and provides an interactive and hands-on approach to confronting and defusing threats to human dignity.
The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center Board of Directors considered Comptroller Weitzman’s work on a variety of issues during his two terms.
Initiatives like the NassauRx card, a discount drug program for residents and the Comptroller’s numerous audits of special districts which uncovered millions of dollars in waste and abuse, and his support of the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center are just a few of the reasons that the board chose to honor Comptroller Weitzman.
