Comptroller Achievement Awards
In the coming months Nassau County Comptroller Howard Weitzman will be awarding more than 50 high school students throughout Nassau County with the Comptroller Achievement Award. Students who receive the award have excelled in economics, accounting or finance, and have demonstrated a commitment to community service.
During annual senior awards programs in May and June, the Comptroller presents each winner with a certificate of achievement and a special gift chosen by the Comptroller. Students are nominated by the high schools and winnerswill have an opportunity to apply fora paid summer internship in the Comptroller’s Office during their college years. Several Comptroller Achievement Award winners havebeen chosen for intern positions and contributed substantially to major projects conducted by the Comptroller’s Office.
“The young people who receive the Comptroller Achievement award are some of the best and brightest we have in Nassau,” said Comptroller Weitzman. “The internship program they are considered for is highly competitive, and we pick the most motivated students we can find. A lot of the award recipients definitely fit the bill.” |
