Weitzman receives Financial Executive of the Year from the
Institute of Management Accountants of L.I.
Nassau County Comptroller Howard Weitzman was awarded the Milton Zipper Financial Executive of the year this week at the Institute of Management Accountants Long Island Chapter’s annual award’s dinner at the Milleridge Inn. The affair was attended by over 100 people from the accounting and financial world.
"After a lifetime career in finance and management, this is a wonderful honor to be recognized by my peers for all I have been able to accomplish,” Weitzman said.
The Institute of Management Accountants is the world's leading organization dedicated to empowering management accounting and finance professionals to drive business performance. Each year the Long Island Chapter of the IMA selects a senior accounting/financial management professional to be recognized as its Financial Executive of the Year. A committee comprised of the Past Presidents chooses the winner based on the nominee’s contribution to the Long Island business community, commitment to continuing education and outstanding achievement in the field of management accounting and finance.
Comptroller Weitzman was the first CPA ever elected to the office of Nassau County Comptroller. He served on the New York State Commission on Local Government Efficiency and Competitiveness, a panel charged with developing a plan to streamline local governments and end the cycle of skyrocketing property tax increases; serves as chairperson of the New York State Association of Counties Committee on Taxation and Finance; as a member of the New York State Health Insurance Participating Agency Advisory Council and he recently formed a committee of Elected Comptrollers from throughout New York State.
