NASSAU COUNTY SOCIAL SERVICES IN COLLABORATION WITH
NASSAUHEALTH CARE CORPORATION ANNOUNCES
OPENING OF DOCUMENT DROP-OFF CENTER IN HEMPSTEAD
County Executive Edward P. Mangano announced today that the Department of Social Services will be opening its second document drop-off out station at the Nassau University Medical Center’s Hempstead Health Center located at 135 Main Street, Hempstead, NY on February 22, 2010. “Many Nassau County residents have been negatively impacted by the economy and find themselves in need of services,” said County Executive Mangano. “This has contributed to the increase in visitors coming to the Department of Social Services located at 60 Charles Lindbergh Boulevard in Uniondale. Providing a document drop-off outstation that is easily accessible to residents applying for assistance saves time and reduces travel to Uniondale. We are pleased to offer this service and expect heavy utilization at the Hempstead document drop-off out station.” The first document drop-off location was opened on April 6, 2009, at Nassau University Medical Center’s Westbury/New Cassel Health Center.
Documents can be brought to the Hempstead Health Center Mondays thru Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. Experienced bi-lingual Social Services staff will be on-site to accept documents, answer general questions and hand out applications for assistance. The Westbury/New Cassel site is open Mondays thru Fridays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
“The Department is very appreciative to the Nassau Health Care Corporation for partnering with us in opening the second document drop-off station in Hempstead” said Commissioner John E. Imhof. He added, “clients who live in the area and in nearby communities can bring their documentation to either Hempstead or Westbury and their papers will be processed the same as if they were coming to the DSS central office in Uniondale. More document drop-off sites are being planned in other Nassau County communities, including Roosevelt.”
"We are delighted to assist the Nassau County Department of Social Services in providing sites throughout the county for Nassau's most needy residents to drop off theirdocuments at more convenient locations," said Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation.
