NASSAU COUNTY EXECUTIVE’S TASK FORCE ON FAMILY VIOLENCE
"A family should be a harbor of safety, not a place of fear." - Thomas R. Suozzi Nassau County Executive
On October 14, 2003, Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi announced the goal of making Nassau a “family violence-free zone” and launched the County Executive’s Task Force on Family Violence.
The Task Force is comprised of representatives of public and private agencies and organizations, working together to reduce the incidence of all forms of family violence – domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse, sexual assault and dating violence - in Nassau County. The Task Force is co-chaired by Dr. Louise Skolnik, Director of Human Services for Nassau County and Sandy Oliva, Executive Director of the Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence
Every community member can play a role in stopping family violence by learning more about the problem and its causes; by reporting abuse when it occurs; and by supporting programs that help strengthen families and the community.
Are you a professional working in the field?
Are you or someone you know a victim of domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse, rape or sexual assault, or dating violence?
