Definition
Food Service establishments shall include, but not be limited to, any fixed or mobile restaurants; drive-in; coffee shop; cafeteria; short-order café; delicatessen; luncheonette; grill; tea room; sandwich shop; soda fountain; bar; tavern; cocktail lounge; night club; roadside stand; take-out prepared food place; retail bakery; industrial feeding establishment; private, public or non-profit organizations routinely serving food, catering kitchens, commissary or similar place in which food is prepared for sale or for service on the premises or elsewhere, and any other establishment or operation where food is served or provided for the public with or without charge.
Potentially hazardous food shall mean any food which consists, in whole or in part, of milk or milk products, eggs, meat, poultry, fish, shellfish, edible crustacea, cooked rice, cooked potato or other ingredients, including synthetic ingredients, capable of supporting growth of infections or toxigenic microorganisms.
PLAN SUBMISSION
When a food establishment is constructed or substantially remodeled, properly prepared plans and specifications shall be submitted to the Nassau County Department of Health for review before construction is begun.
PERMITS
It will be unlawful for any person who does not possess a valid permit issued by Nassau County Department of Health to operate a food service establishment within Nassau County.
