Beaches Open

The Nassau County Department of Health is allowing the following 3 beaches to reopen, effective today, June 10, 2009.

Bar Beach

Creek Club

Laurel Hollow Beach

These beaches had been closed as a precautionary measure due to storm water runoff.

The 5 beaches on the South Shore and 14 beaches on the North Shore listed below are closed already as they are currently not operating Monday through Friday.

On the South Shore in Nassau County:

Hewlett Point Beach

Island Park Beach

Merrick Estates Civic Association Beach

Philip Healey Beach

North Shore Beaches:

Centre Island Bay               

Centre Island Sound                                   

Crescent Beach          

Lattingtown Beach              

Morgan Sound

Piping Rock Beach Club

Pyrbil Beach

Ransom Beach

Roosevelt Beach

Sea Cliff Village Beach

Soundside Beach

Stehli Beach

Tappen Beach

West Harbor Beach

As a result of this heavy rain, residents are urged to remove or empty standing water from children’s toys, flower pots, garbage cans or any object that can hold water.  This will help reduce the number of mosquitoes around your home.
