Corbin Honors Robert Jesberger of Mid Island Collision who is Donating More than 1,000 Turkeys to Needy Families
It’s a giving time of year, and Nassau County Deputy Presiding Officer Roger Corbin (D-Westbury) today honored local businessman Robert Jesberger, who is donating more than 1,000 turkeys to the Mary Brennan Interfaith Nutrition Network in Hempstead just in time for Thanksgiving. Jesberger is the owner of Mid Island Collision in Rockville Centre.
“Robert Jesberger is a person who has the giving spirit and understands that everyone, especially at this time of year, deserves a hot and healthy meal,” Corbin said. “I applaud Robert’s actions and I encourage local businesses and residents to give of themselves this holiday season in any way that they can.”
“I do this for selfish reasons, because I get so much out of it. You do more to get more and you get out of life what you put into it,” Jesberger said. “I keep trying to pay back everything I have, but I keep getting more. I encourage other businesses to do the same, especially during the holidays.”
The Interfaith Nutrition Network addresses the issues of hunger and homelessness on Long Island by providing food, shelter, long-term housing and supportive services in a dignified and respectful manner for those who seek help.
“The support of local businesses like Mid Island Collision is very important to the guests who come to the Mary Brennan INN soup kitchen,” said Robert Cameron of the INN’s Board of Directors. “It’s great for them to be able to have a happy Thanksgiving dinner like their neighbors.”
In addition to the 1,000 turkeys donated by Jesberger, Waldbaum’s donated an additional 160 turkeys that will be distributed by Miracle Christian Center, the Equal Opportunity Commission and the Central Westbury Civic Association to residents of Magnolia Gardens Senior Housing and Greenwich Gardens Senior Housing.
