Legislator Corbin: “Finally a VA Clinic at NUMC”

During a recent meeting, the Nassau County Legislature voted unanimously to approve a lease agreement that ends a decades-long quest to have a local, accessible Veterans’ Administration clinic in Nassau County. The new, 11,000 square foot clinic will be located in Building Q at the Nassau University Medical Center with a grand opening expected in February.

Nassau County Legislator Roger Corbin (D-Westbury), charter member of the legislature and a veteran, said, “This has been a long time coming. Finally our veterans are going to have a decent healthcare facility to take care of their needs. I’ve been pushing the VA hospital for the last 8 years, and had a hearing to explore the difficulties our veterans face having to travel out to Northport for their healthcare needs. I am proud that our veterans be cared for in a state of the art clinic that is conveniently located. I would like to thank NUMC President Art Giannelli, Presiding Officer Diane Yatauro and County Executive Tom Suozzi for making the clinic a reality.”
