The Elmont Coalition for Sustainable Development, Elmont Community Coalition (CCC), Elmont Chamber of Commerce and The New York Racing Association, Inc. with support from the State Bank of Long Island will host the

FIRST ANNUAL ELMONT FALL CLEAN-UP DAY
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2008

The Clean-Up Day will be an important step in implementing the community vision that was created in 2007. Residents of all ages and backgrounds will be invited to show their commitment to the future of Elmont by participating in various clean-up activities along Hempstead Turnpike.  Volunteers will meet in the morning at the Marquee Tent in Belmont Park to receive a Tee-Shirt, compliments of The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) and will then go to one of six locations along Hempstead Turnpike to clean up the community.

The clean-up day is one of the recommendations that came out of the community’s Vision Planning Process held in the fall of 2007, facilitated by Sustainable Long Island that engaged over 600 Elmont stakeholders.  Since then, the Elmont community, the Town of Hempstead and Nassau County have embraced the completed Vision Plan to guide future development of Elmont along Hempstead Turnpike.

With financial support from NYRA and State Bank of Long Island, the Elmont community will be able to beautify their community and the gateway to Nassau.
