Legislator Scannell Delivers Funding for Rec Center HVAC
Nassau County Legislator Joe Scannell (D-Baldwin) attended the October Rockville Centre Village Board meeting to present the trustees with a $150,000 check payable to the Village of Rockville Centre. The funds were made available through the County’s Community Revitalization Program (CRP) for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system at the Village’s Recreation Center.
Legislator Scannell said, “I am proud to have secured and delivered these funds, as the Recreation Center is a vital part of our community and is enjoyed by all.”
Because of the Village’s current financial situation, the trustees were forced to bond and borrow the money to pay for the work, as was announced at the August Village Board meeting. Legislator Scannell eased the burden on the taxpayers by securing $150,000 for the Village. The CRP funds can be applied to paying off the bond.
The Recreation Center is used by the community’s youth, senior citizens, and organizations for varied programs.
