Legislator Scannell Hosts Foreclosure & Financial Literacy Workshop
Nassau County Legislator Joe Scannell (D-Baldwin) hosted a community meeting on Foreclosure & Financial Literacy inviting guest speakers from the New York State Attorney General’s Office, the Nassau County Office of Housing and Nassau Suffolk Law Services. The workshop included a discussion on basic financial literacy, predatory lending and provided information on available counseling and programs for residents facing financial difficulty.
“The speakers provided a great deal of information useful to residents facing foreclosure and warned them of the dangers of predatory lending,” Legislator Scannell said. “During these difficult times I am grateful that there are options for people to get help. The knowledge and professionalism displayed by Ms. Camacho, Ms. Donner, and Mr. Wigutow is a credit to the good work of the agencies they represented.”
