Legislator Bosworth: Mammography Saves Lives

Please Make and Keep an Appointment

Nassau County Legislator Judi Bosworth (D-Great Neck) today joined with the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program in their October breast cancer awareness campaign to urge women to get mammograms.

“October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a significant time to remind women to get mammograms,” said Legislator Bosworth. “I hope that in October women will take the time to make and keep an appointment for a mammogram. Approximately 95 percent of all mammograms prove to be normal.”

For more information and to locate an accredited mammography facility, call the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program at 800-877-8077. Callers can also get emotional support from the hotline’s trained volunteers, most of whom are women who have had breast cancer.

The hotline has been in existence for 29 years and is a project of the Adelphi University School of Social Work. All services are free. The website is: www.adelphi.edu/nysbreastcancer.
